First Workday of 2022! Thank you volunteers next workday preliminarily set for Sat March 19th and Sun the 20th

Hello DLV followers,

Our first workday weekend was a success. This season we are changing things up a bit. We had both a Saturday and Sunday workday from 10am to 4pm. Hopefully this allows followers a chance to get their rides in and still be able to participate for a few hours helping the DLV. This also allows for weather flexibility. We have more projects to beautify the velodrome then manhours for a crew of 500. Please feel free to bring your favorite rake, leafblower, pole saw, loppers, and/or shovel.

Thank you:

Andy Bailie

Leaves were removed, Bleachers returned to position, Ivy removed from trees, tree debris removed, and a patch to back straight board hole.

See everyone soon,

Both the beginner and intermediate classes will start at 5:30, we will all race bikes and have fun together. At 6:30 we are having a pizza party! So come on out and help us end the season right.

The DLV is Open!

The fallen light post and damaged boards have been repaired enough that all programming at the velodrome can resume. We will be open starting Wednesday 9/8. Come out an enjoy an evening of racing under the lights!

Many thanks to the East Point Power Department, the City of East Point Parks and Recreation Department, and Michael Barman for quickly resolving the issues created by the fallen light post.

Youth Cycling League Returns

It’s back! The long-awaited start of Youth Cycling League 2021 is this Monday, July 26.

We will have YCL every Monday and Thursday from 5:30-6:30 for beginners and 6:30-7:30 for intermediate riders through October 14th. As in years past, we will provide bikes, helmets, water, and lots of fun, but you can also bring your own helmet and water bottle from home. We recommend all riders wear athletic clothing and sneakers with short laces. Other frequently asked questions are answered on the DLV website. Please bring a signed waiver on the first day.

We are so excited to get back to YCL and look forward to seeing you all there.

May DLV Update

The racing season started a few weeks ago and so far has been a great success. We are very happy to see the velodrome come alive again!

Below are the changes starting in June.

We will continue the same programming and every other week rotation of racing as we did in May with one exception. The program on the 5th Wednesday will be at the Race Director’s discretion. Come prepared for whatever gets thrown at you. I promise, there will be a mix of short and long races.

Field limits will be raised as follows:

  • Group 1: 25 riders
  • Group 2: 20 riders
  • Group 3: 15 riders

We will begin charging for racing and going cashless. The fee for racing on Wednesday nights for the 2021 season will be $20 processed through the DLV website. For the month of June, racing will be discounted 50% ($10 off).

Riders 18 and under will race for free. When you go to purchase a ticket to race, you will see a coupon code listed. Use this code during the checkout process to receive a free ticket to race.

The fees collected are used to pay officials, registration workers, results workers and the general operating expenses of the velodrome.

Thanks for your support, and happy racing!
