June 2nd Super Saturday Race Program Changes

I was planning to run the "Marathon Night" Super Saturday program this weekend, but I'd really like to trade the super-long race for more shorter races (5-30 laps or so) so that the Cs and Ds especially get more experience.

Are there any races that you'd like to run?
Any races from the Marathon Night program that you don't mind cutting from the program?

Please let me know.

I think the C's and D's need

I think the C's and D's need experience in long races too. So I don't see why the schedule would need to change. Two long races give a different kind of experience, one that's been lacking in previous year's programs.

I don't disagree

with Tim's basic premise, but selfishly, I hate the entire program since I'm not a long distance guy.

That's okay, that's why we

That's okay, that's why we have Gladiator night. Which is another reason not to shorten the events -- there are some of us who like long events.

Leave As Scheduled

I agree with Tim 100% - 1. we already have a program for shorter races. 2. Like Tim said, not every one is or wants to be a sprinter. 3. If you look at the turnout for gladiator vs. marathon night, you will see a far greater turnout for marathon night. 4. Someone gets a lot more track time/experience in a long race than a short race. 5. Track races are inherently short, so throw us endurance guys a bone and stick to the posted schedule. Please post the final schedule so that we can plan accordingly before Saturday morning.

Okay, since we have an extra

Okay, since we have an extra category racing and the D's haven't done anything really long yet, how about this:

D 14 Lap Split Scratch
C 20 Lap Split Scratch
A/B 20 Lap Split Scratch

30 Lap Madison

D 25 Lap Points
C 30 Lap Points
A/B 80 Lap Points.

So that shortens up events for the D's and shortens the split scratch for everybody. But for people who want to compete at a national event in a points race, we really need that long option.

Just so nobody is confused,

Just so nobody is confused, that's my suggestion and may or may not be the official schedule.

I think that is a fair

I think that is a fair compromise.

That works for me. Again,

That works for me.

Again, this is for you guys. I'll give you guys whatever you want. I'm not racing tomorrow. I just want everyone (or as many as possible) to be pleased.

maybe add some match sprints

maybe add some match sprints at the end if there is still time like the last super saturday? haha

I do not think the schedule

I do not think the schedule should be changed at this time. For what reasons? Why would a 40 lap race be replaced with a 20 lap race on marathon day? Go with the planned schedule

The marathon night schedule

The marathon night schedule has been altered each time we do it based on how long it takes. Currently it looks like:

which is very similar to my suggestion that Carleton agreed to do. But since we have an extra category to race today compared to Wed night, there had to be some additional shortening of the races.
