That's one of the reasons that I suggested it. Other reasons include the fact that out-of-town racers can come for more than just the Festivals of Speed without having to take off from work.
Now if we can figure out how to setup a pool in the middle of the infield and some beach chairs for sunbathing...
Lots. Tuesday CAT-D racing is always popular. I would anticipate lots of participation from the CAT-D group especially being that the Beginner class scheduled for this weekend is sold-out. That means that there will be lots of new racers looking to get some races in. Not to mention the current group of D racers who are looking to upgrade.
Thanks to everyone that came out to support the event. It seems that everyone had a great time. There were quite a few guys from out of town plus the beginner racers got some valuable experience and are one step closer to upgraded to Cat C.

Thanks! Saturday afternoon is so much better when you have a drive. Can you call in the same weather for next month?
Regarding RH, I was told that racing would likely be starting "sometime" in May. They were looking at racing Thursday and Friday nights and setting categories up so that most people could find a class to race on both nights.
This next Super Saturday coincides with the Brownwood Bike rally, which has an interesting little semi-crit, semi-CX race at 12:15. C'mon out and double up!

It would help to practice your standing (or slow-rolling starts) ahead of time to get used to the feel. Also make sure that your pedal tension is sufficient to keep from pulling out.
Also:
- Allows people from out of town to race without having to get up very early. We've had several racers from AL, TN, NC, and FL visit to race.
- Allows people to do Saturday errands or chores in the AM and still be able to race.
- Allows late risers (like me) to sleep in and still be able to race.
- Finishes early enough for out-of-towners to get home at a decent hour.
- Finishes early enough for people to enjoy their Saturday night out.
Friday night racing starting at 7:30 was unpopular in 2009 because no one wanted to give up their Friday evenings to race. They would rather go out or chill at home.
Be sure to send Jeff an email with your suggestions at some point. Once the season is over and the board meets, these kinds of suggestions/issues will be discussed. So fire something off so it ends up on the agenda at some point.
I'll be there.
;)
I do!
Also guessing we will get some riders in from out of town. I think this will grow into a very popular day!
Me too
Plus, I know several people who are interested in checking out track racing but can't make it down during the week.
Sweet!

This is great! I have never been able to make it to the track until now. Does anyone have a clue as to how many D racers will be attending?

Fun Day.
I'd like to thank Carleton and Tim for running super saturdays yesterday. It was a lot of fun.
You are welcome! I'm glad

Quick question
Is there a specific reason we are doing this in the middle of the afternoon, rather than early (say 10 am?).

There seem to be more pros than cons.
Because people traditionally
Because people traditionally train on the track Saturday mornings and it was a desire to not interfere.
Also, if people are doing morning crits, they could still come and do this.

Thanks
I'm glad we have these sessions and appreciate you and Carleton taking the time to run them, but they do split up the day in an odd manner.

I'm not worked up about it
But I was just wondering considering a typical August Saturday afternoon should have been 96* with 98% humidity. We got lucky today.
Thanks Carleton. the A/C war was fun.
