Pursuit night events

So far, we've done the pursuit nights with the same events. But, that can get dull so I've made some polls to see what kinds of events people are interested in doing.

Of course, this is just a dictatorship masquerading as a democracy -- the polls are really just to give me some ideas. Just cause one event gets a lot of votes, doesn't mean we'll do it.

So here goes:

Short sprint events:

Flying 200m -- you should know what this is

Standing 250m -- they run it at nationals and it was requested. This might be tricky since the start would be in the turns, it's hard to do a sprint event that way.

Flying lap -- one lap to get up to speed, then timed for the next lap.

Standing lap -- the Chariot race, but solo

Standing 500m -- The current short event.

Long sprint events:

Standing 750m -- Title says it all

Standing 1000m -- The current long sprint event

Team Sprint -- 3 riders, 3 laps. Each rider leads for a lap and then pulls off out of the race.

Shorter endurance events:

Standing 2000m -- Current short endurance event

Fixed time TT -- I did this once before. I pick a time, say 3 minutes (or 5 minutes if we do it for a long event). You go as far as you can in that time and we count the laps to the 1/4 lap.

2 Person TT -- Basically just a mini-team pursuit

Unknown Distance Pursuit -- This is one I've wanted to do but never felt evil enough. It's exactly what it sounds like: neither rider knows the distance in the pursuit (I will be nice and give a range, say no fewer than X laps, no more than Y) and you win by having the fastest time or catching the other rider.

Longer endurance events:

Standing 3000m -- The current long event (this is the elite omnium distance)

Standing 4000m -- This is the elite distance for the individual pursuit

Team Pursuit -- 4000m, 4 riders. Time stops with the 3rd rider to cross the line, so the team can burn a rider.

Australian Pursuit -- This is one that is more evil than the unknown distance. 4 riders on the track, the fastest rider is at the home straight pursuit line. Second fastest is in between turns 1-2, third fastest is on the back straight pursuit line, and the slowest rider is in turns 3-4. When a rider is caught by any other rider, they drop out of the race. The race ends when only one rider remains (either because the rest are caught, or because everybody else gives up). Pure evil, but entertaining.

The polls are split up so you can vote for each classification of events. It can be mixed and matched, so we can do a long fixed time, or we can do a 2 man 1k.

Most likely, I will always have competition distances (ie. 1k, 4k) and then use the 2nd event for something different.

If anybody has any other suggestions, let me know.

votes for..

flying 200m TT
standing lap
team sprint
team pursuit

Standing 250 or Lap

I could only vote for 1, but I'd like a Standing 250 or a Standing Lap.

Have you decided on the

Have you decided on the events for Tuesday?

500m 2k Team Sprint 4k To do

500m
2k
Team Sprint
4k

To do the 4k, you DO NOT need to do the 2k as we've done in the past. So, the 4k will be a TT not an IP.

For the Team Sprint, you can sign up as a team, or you can sign up single and we'll pair you with people close in sprint event times now that we have a few times from past events.

for future

for future consideration.....3k team pursuit with three riders starting, two must finish. Easier to find three riders to race together, and if you take 1/2 lap pulls you get to alternate on who pulls up the now calculated at 42" tall "hill" front stretch.

If no other team pursuits next week, maybe offer this as an option if there is interest and time?

Thx, Lamar

If we get done early (by 9:30

If we get done early (by 9:30 or so), and I have somebody willing to help if needed, I'll run any event people want. Last time we did the 4k TTT because there was a team interested.

This next one, if there's a group who wants to do it, we can do the 3k TTT. So long as I'm not leaving the track at 11pm, I surely don't mind doing it.
