Pursuit night format

Hey everybody,

Next week is the first pursuit night of the season! Hopefully everybody is excited for a night of pain!

The format for the event this year is a bit different from past years, so here goes:

Cost: $10/person, you can choose from any (or all) of the races offered that night (except where noted below)

Events: 500m TT, 1000m TT, 2000m TT, 3000m IP -- in order to ride in the 3k IP, you have to ride the 2k TT for a seed time

Format: Two riders on the track at a time. For the TT's, if you catch the other rider the race IS NOT over -- you must continue to the finish to get your time. For the IP, if you catch the other rider you win the race, but you may choose to continue to the end for a time.

Signups will close at 7:15 so I can make the start lists.

There is no organized warm ups, so come early to warm up and prepare on your own.

First riders will go off at 7:30. There will be low tolerance for riders late to the start location since we need to keep people moving.

If there is time and interest at the end of the night, we will run some team events with people who got similar times. Team sprints, team pursuits, etc..

Finally, all aero equipment is allowed! I'm not going to be measuring tubes or bars to make sure they are within 3:1...

Also, as in the past (although nobody really asked me about it), we will allow ROAD BIKES during the INDIVIDUAL (not team events if we run them at the end of the evening) events (which is allowed at USA Cycling events as well).

However, if you choose to ride a road bike for the event:

You may NOT shift during the event. The gear you leave with is the gear you ride with until the end. Any shift, intentional or not, will result in a DQ.

You may NOT warm-up on the track with a road bike. Any warm-up will have to be done off the track or on a track bike.

Both rules will be strictly enforced to keep things fair and safe.

I look forward to seeing everybody out there next week, and if anybody has questions before then feel free to email me at pursuit@dicklanevelodrome.com
