Any interest in a Velodrome Swap Meet?

I have a lot of odds and ends that I don't need anymore (bars, stems, saddles, pedals, computer, tools, doodads) that are fine. Not worth posting to sell, a shame to throw away, and definitely taking up space.
Is anyone interested in a Swap Meet? Maybe one Saturday or Sunday afternoon after workouts or Wednesday before races. I don't know what's the best time, but I'm down to help.
Thoughts?

Maybe...
If we can drum up a lot of interest maybe we can open it to the public and charge $1 to enter, $5 to sell. I don't know if that would go over or not. Never done a swap meet.
I'm sure some of you guys have waaaay more stuff than me. Nice, cool stuff.

TTown has one every fall (and a small one in the spring). The one in the fall is *huge* and really awesome.

Woah! I just noticed this, but if you hold the mouse over the link in Active Forum Topics, a tool-tip tells you how many messages are in the thread. Pretty sweet.

I've stood on my head to try and get one started over the years with more then 7 swap meets under my belt held at the dlv - interest has been very limited - in 2007 and 08 we tried adding it to the first race of the year. I welcome anyones efforts if they think that they could have a go at it.

I have lots
lots of road, mtn and few track parts... let's get this going! Maybe we can do it in conjunction with a Sat or Sun event???

We'd have to work out the
We'd have to work out the best timing for it, first off, probably either fall or spring. I personally think it would be difficult to have it on the same weekend as the pro races are going on, would be a lot of extra stuff to work around. We could, however create a more low key event to have some races to go along with the swap meet.
I vote for post-season swap
I vote for post-season swap meet. Like October or so when the weather is still nice but the racing is done.
That's probably when people with nice stuff will want to upgrade parts for next season and need to get together money and when people without nice stuff will want to buy up the nice stuff cheap.
It helps everybody. And it makes it easier to organize since there's nothing else going on.
Maybe the day before our century -- we could advertise at the same time and kill two birds? Or maybe between the last Pro Race Series event and the century so we can talk up the century at the same time?
But, I think by that point Jeff may want to take a bit of a break so I suggest somebody ::cough::Carleton::cough:: take the helm on the planning/executing bit and just coordinate with the velodrome board to make sure everybody knows what's going on.

Hey!
I can't even get a key to the bathroom but I get to run something involving money?
I'll be glad to. But, as I mentioned earlier, I have no experience in organizing such events.
sounds like a good way to get
sounds like a good way to get a key is to run a event that requires you to have a key and raises money for the velodrome... as to no experience we beleive that on the job training works great - and don't worry you'll get lots of wanted and unwanted inputs as you organize the event...
I didn't get my keys till I
I didn't get my keys till I did the first pursuit night. Which is also the first time I met Pete.
Not just for Carleton but for everybody: the track rewards proactive behaviour. You really do get a lot more out of it if you pitch in.
that's why I talk smack! ;-)
