Advanced Training
For 2010 we are making some changes to the Advanced Training program that we have run in the past. We will be swapping each week between fitness based sessions and skills sessions. Wayne Whitesides will be taking care of the fitness sessions with the help of Dave Schwalbach, and Jeff Hopkins will be taking the skills sessions, with a mix of madison, sprint, standing starts and any other skills that need to be brushed up on for our riders.
Time: 7:30pm - Ready to ride.
Cost: There is no cost for the nights, but you must have purchased either the yearly training pass, the Wed+ Training Pass or the DLV One Pass. Check the racer information page for more info.
Please check the weather before you come down. If it is at or below 40deg at 6pm the training session will not be held.
What's it all about? and Who's it for?
Whether you're a sprinter, distance rider or something in between you will benefit from this class. It's for individuals looking for a little structure in their training and looking to be pushed. Let's face it most of us don't have a program and few of us push our training to your true threshold limits. Years ago the velodrome offered a class similar to this and anyone who took it will testify that it really worked. The training sessions will be divided into two groups with one group always on the track while the other rests. We will be doing a variety of efforts, from as basic as group efforts, motor pacing, intervals, whistle sprints, one on-one off and pyramids to more advanced training like negative split intervals, over-under's and other threshold workouts. Anyone with an open mind and willingness to try will benefit from the workouts.
Who's it not for?
Someone not willing to work with the group and do what is scheduled. This will be a closed session night of training, so you are either doing the program or you're watching from the sidelines. Absolutely no exceptions.
