Friday Night Sprints Tonight

The first of the 2009 installment of Steve Hill's Friday Night Sprints will be held tonight. Gates open at 6pm, racing begins at 7pm. Keep an eye on the weather and on the forum, Steve will be updating on there if the weather gets dicey.

We're starting a collection area for photo's and video's of the Dick Lane Velodrome. If you have photo's or videos of the DLV posted on a site somewhere in cyberspace, send us the link and we'll add it to our media page for all to enjoy.

Track Records

We've started tracking our records as of the 2009 season. The first group fo people with their name in lights and bragging rights for a few weeks are the winners of the Record Breaker Scratch Races from last Wed night. Congrats to A's 10mile winner and current record holder Joe Eldridge, B's 8mile winner and current track record holder, Patrick Vrana and C's 5mile winner and current track record holder, Darren Comer. Make the most of it guys, those records are sure to be broken soon!!

2009 Junior's Racing Program

New for the 2009 season is our Juniors Racing Program. The program is designed for graduates of our Bicycle Little League program and other Juniors in the area to come learn and race on the track. We have a limited number of bikes available for riders to loan. The program is free for participants, but we can always use donations in order to build our fleet of bikes and keep them maintained. Racing will be held on Saturday's approx. once monthly from 3:00pm till 5:00pm. Go here for dates.

Tonights racing will be on as of 5:14pm.

For those not sure about tonights racing, 4/7, it will be held despite the less than awesome weather. If 6 or more people show it will be going down as per usual.

Jeff Hopkins' HopCoach Coaching Series

Continuing on from 2008's Madison clinic's, Jeff Hopkins will be expanding the clinics to include some other events/skills such as Standing Starts, Sprint Skills and Team Pursuit. All of these clinics are aimed to improve your overall riding skills. Open to all who have completed the beginners course, clinics will be held on on the following Friday dates from 7:30pm till 9pm : 4/10, 5/22, 6/5, 6/19, 7/17, 7/31, 8/28, 9/11. Cost for the clinics are $10 per rider. Clinic costs are NOT included in the One Pass, or other passes at the DLV. For more specifics, check the schedule.

This Sunday's(3/29) BLL Time Change

Due to an availability issue, this Sunday's (3/29) Bicycle Little League will be changing from the normal 3pm timeslot to 4:30pm. Also note that this will be the last week for the Sunday session, before next week (4/2) where we will start on Thursday night at 6pm till 7:30pm and then the following Mondays/Thursdays for the summer BLL sessions.

May 1st Pursuit Cancelled

Due to an availability issue, May 1st's pursuit night has been cancelled.

Thanks for the Work

Thanks to everyone who came out for the workday last Saturday. Things are looking good around the track now, thanks to Bill Thomsen, Vince Adams, George P. Burdell, Joe Perrault, Chris Schwartz, Michael Barman, Brian Tester, Jeff Hopkins, Jarek Mol, Rick Fogarty, Janet Fogarty and Jay Hallinan.

Velodrome Century Announcement

With help from Maggie and Katie Sweeney, and the Velodrome Century Committee, we are happy to announce that we will be hosting our very own century ride on Sunday the 11th of October, 2009. Called the Velodrome Century, and taking in some of the best roads that south-west Atlanta has to offer, this ride is a fundraising effort by the EPVA, to allow us to continue and to grow our Bicycle Little League program and to help in the addition of our Junior Racing program
