Our 6:30 and 7:30 YCL Classes are cancelled because of the pop up storm that just moved over the track.
Hey'all, we're going to have a temporary 24-hour track closure from tomorrow, April 21st, 7am until Saturday April 22nd, 7am, or when we get there to open the gates, whichever happens first. We are performing some critical repairs and if you ride over those repairs during this time you'll probably mess stuff up. So don't do this. Please.
Officials Communique #1
Please be on time and register as soon as possible for the correct distance for your category, gender and age. Registering as soon as possible is: before you put your gearing on, change into your kit, warm-up, talk to friends, or forget you didn’t register after the start sheets are printed.
We will be seeding riders per distance. This helps with the timing of events.
Please pay attention to your heat number. Report to your start area one event before your heat. Ex: I’m in heat 9 backside? I should be at backside starting area at the beginning of heat 8!
You may warm up during competition above the blue stayers line. No cheering. No pacing. Please be careful while entering and exiting the track for your fellow competitors and officials. Stay at a safe speed. 15mph
We will be posting the raw results on instagram after each distance change: Front side will be backside will be . Please do not interrupt the officials while timing. Interrupting or trying to see your time increases the probability that mistakes may happen and is disrespectful to the other competitors. Results will be posted before the end of the evening. I promise no one set a world record!

We're canceling track for tonight 4-5 due to the high humidity and debris covering the track slowing down the drying time. With a new line of storms backbuilding to our west it looks like tonight is just not going to work out. We'll see everybody next week!
Sorry, the track just isn't drying fast enough to host YCL for Tonight. However, our first April weekly beginners class is still on as scheduled for 7:30. Brian said he may be a little late due to our new normal traffic habits.
This year we want to encourage you to help your DLV community by volunteering one or two race nights a season to be a volunteer official, scorer, lap counter or timer during our regular weekly racing as well as Pro Race, State Champs as well as other event days. Volunteers will receive 4 ROY points for each volunteer session but will NOT be able to race that night. The more people that know and understand these positions, the better and stronger our velodrome community is.

Ok, all you Elite riders who are looking for an invitation to our Keirin on May 6th! The time is now here. Please send Rob ([email protected]) your best resume and action shot of you doing work to go fast and win. We'll make a decision around April 2nd to let everyone know so get your requests to participate in ASAP. The Keirin is restricted to category A (1/2) and higher riders.
Registration for Beginner's Class #1 has sold out and so we are no longer accepting registrations for it.
Our next weekend Beginner's Class is April 15th and 16th
We also have a weeknight class starting Monday April 3rd and continuing each Monday night through April 24th.
Our Youth Cycling League starts next week on Monday. This year we are excited to announce that we will be creating a Advanced sessions for our more accomplished young riders. This speaks volumes about the success of the program the last few years and continuing on with our goal of introducing kids to the sport of track cycling. Please Read our changes carefully below:
Every Monday and Thursday from the time change in March through the end of October (except for Federal holidays) from:
5:30pm till 6:30pm for Beginner's or Young Riders 8-12yo
6:30pm till 7:30 for Intermediate Riders
New For 2017:
On Thursday's only (starting next week) from 7:30 to 8:30 we'll have Advanced Riders identified by YCL Coaches meeting timed criteria (among others) of a 47 second 500 meter TT time. Riders please check your 500 times at our results page or contact Jackie or Rob if you are unsure about which class you should be in.
All riders riding in Advanced YCL will be invited to ride on Pursuit and Sprint Nights on alternating Tuesday's. All other Advanced Class riders ages 14 and up are encouraged to take the Adult Certification Class and begin racing in the adult categories as well. No riders under 14yo are allowed to participate in mass start racing. There will be no Advanced YCL class on Monday's and we ask that these riders not attend unless requested by coaches to be a mentor to the lower classes.
It's not raining yet, but the 30+mph winds have created enough of a hazard that we are canceling Winter Training for 3/1. Our alternate training ride is 7p.m. on the Watt Bikes at Hotlanta Yoga at 439 Edgewood Ave. Show up a little early to get the bike set up and pedals swapped if you aren't riding Look Keo or SPD mountain cleats (SPD-SLs work also we are told) Bring your Garmin/Data Recording Device or download the Watt Bike app to capture all your kilojoules. Cost is $10.
There will be no winter training tonight because of ongoing track repair and unsafe hazards on the track. There will be no programming until the current hazard is fixed. We will have a small work party this Saturday February 25th. and we need 6 people to finish up these repairs. Don't assume others have contacted the track about helping, unless you have heard from Rob otherwise, help is still needed. 404-594-1789 [email protected]
Attention: due to some track work that did not get finished during the workday, there is a hazard present in the finish straight from the 270 to 290 meter marks as we rebuild the joint from the track to the apron. There is a large gap that is marked with cones and rope. Should you choose to ride the track, please stay above the red line. Winter Training will most likely be cancelled this week as a result. Anyone wishing to help us finish this project up this week or next weekend please get in touch with [email protected]
After the sun came out and clearing the track of leaves, we didn't get enough drying in the last hour as expected with the 98% humidity. Thus Winter Training is cancelled for tonight 2/8/2017. So ends the longest Winter Training streak in the history of the DLV.
