There will be no winter training tonight because of ongoing track repair and unsafe hazards on the track. There will be no programming until the current hazard is fixed. We will have a small work party this Saturday February 25th. and we need 6 people to finish up these repairs. Don't assume others have contacted the track about helping, unless you have heard from Rob otherwise, help is still needed. 404-594-1789 [email protected]
Attention: due to some track work that did not get finished during the workday, there is a hazard present in the finish straight from the 270 to 290 meter marks as we rebuild the joint from the track to the apron. There is a large gap that is marked with cones and rope. Should you choose to ride the track, please stay above the red line. Winter Training will most likely be cancelled this week as a result. Anyone wishing to help us finish this project up this week or next weekend please get in touch with [email protected]
After the sun came out and clearing the track of leaves, we didn't get enough drying in the last hour as expected with the 98% humidity. Thus Winter Training is cancelled for tonight 2/8/2017. So ends the longest Winter Training streak in the history of the DLV.
Starts this Wednesday January 11th and continues through to the Wednesday before the season starts.
Things to know:
If the Forecast Temperature at 6p.m. will be 40* or lower training will be canceled for that night. This is the only exception to the DLV Weather rules in using a forecast. We may amend this if it looks warmer than forecast that day.
Training will run from 7:00-8:30 or until we get too cold and need to call it a night.
If enough riders show up we will have organized training sessions. Otherwise open track.
All riders are required to have taken a certification class at DLV or equivalent.
Please always check the website and social media pages when in doubt about whether any programming is happening for that night.
Hope everybody enjoyed their Turkey Day!

With the last day of Youth Cycling League behind us, the 2016 DLV Season has finally drawn to a close.
Throughout the next couple of months there will be no regular maintenance of the track facility. This means there will probably be leaves, sticks, acorns, wildlife and a variety of other potential obstacles on the track. Also, some projects on the track surface itself may be taking place.
So, be careful, leaves are slippery, don't ride on the track in the rain, or at night (yes, we see your instagram posts) and come out and help us make the track look awesome on November 12th. We'll get the track going again in January.
Since we didn't reach our required threshold for participation last week, our final Beginner's Session of October is cancelled this week. Riders with any remaining upgrade requirements will have to complete those in the Spring once our season begins. Thanks to all who came out!
Get a jump start on winning the 2017 Ride of The Year prize. Fall Workday Dates are November 12th and December 3rd. We'll get started at about 9:00a.m. and wrap up around 1p.m.
List of tasks to be posted soon.
Reminder: No Youth Cycling or Womens Tonight due to Columbus Day.
Reminder: Tonight starts October Beginner Series. Please be ready to ride at 6:30. You must be signed in, have your number pinned and rental bike acquired. Once we start it will be very disruptive to the session if anyone shows up after 6:30 looking to do all these things. So please plan ahead. If you already have a cloth number please bring it with you. If you don't you will be assigned one that you will use each night. Replacement numbers are $5.
If you have taken our Beginner's Class this year and still need a few points to move up to Wednesday Night racing, or just got certified and need some experience the October Beginner's Series is for you.
We will start at 6:30p.m. with warm-up and skills drills and then we will have three varying mass start races to help you understand the different kid of events that will be run at the DLV. Expect to finish around 8p.m.
There will be a field threshold to hit, so talk it up on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat. If we don't get more than 5 riders on the first evening the rest of the series will not move forward.
If you aren't sure how many points you have, or how to upgrade, please review this handy article here: http://www.dicklanevelodrome.com/pages/racingcategories.html
Due to weather Sprint Night for tonight is cancelled. See you tomorrow for Directors night.
Beginner's Class Make Up Date for the September session will be this Sunday, October 2nd starting at 10a.m.
