***Attention*** ALL Festival riDers
Confused about whether you can race or not, please click here for an explanation....

There has also been some concern raised regarding the 22 person Expert limit this year with no pre-registration. While the velodrome hasn't had pre-registration in the last 5 years, I can understand your concern about 8 less riders than previous year limits....So here's the deal. Every Expert/Elite/Women rider will get to race on Saturday. If we actually have more than our field limits then we will create an additional points race qualifier for that category. Between the 5 lap scratch and the points race qualifiers we will take the top 22 or 30 riders based on best overall placing from the two events to race in the remainder of the nights events. The top 2 from all qualifiers will automatically go. This will give everyone equal chance of racing and at least two guaranteed races. To do so, we will have to be on top of everything so please be prepared for your events when they come up. The points race heats would be right after the Scratch heats.

Our free Youth After School Program has been combined with our Bicycle Little League. Starting April 7th and will be held on Monday and Thursday nights between 6:00 and 7:30pm. That day's class will be cancelled if it rains an hour before or during the event. Your parents will also need to sign a release wavier.
ATTENTION ALL RIDERS.
We are proud to announce the introduction of a new category of racing. The time has come for us to expand our program to continue to grow and thrive. Starting April 1st, we will have the following 4 categories for weekday racing:

1. Elite
2. Expert
3. Competitive
4. New Track Racer - MOVING TO TUESDAY NIGHTS

We are asking everyone to take an honest look at their fitness and riding ability and choose their categories based on the following descriptions. The new groups will make all categories safer, more competitive and fun for everyone. Here's to a great year of racing at the Velodrome

2008 Wheel Race Cup
...also know as the Handicap

Keeping inline with changes at the Dick Lane Velodrome in 2008—We are excited to offer Wheel Races throughout the season. Starting at the first Wednesday night race we will now have one wheel race per night that will include all three categories. The event will happen before the "Elite" Points Race. To do this we will need at least 9 holders, so I encourage everyone to step up and help out if you're not racing. We hopefully will be offering more opportunities throughout the year, including at the Festival of Speed. For now, your reward will be lots of experience and a trophy at the end of the season to the best overall "Scratch" rider. As more details become available, like a Cup Sponsor, we will post it at the dedicated Wheel Race Cup page. Wheel Races are a huge hit with Spectators and are a lot of fun. This year will be a trial year that will allow us to create a database of your scratch "Marks" for the following years, so I wouldn't take them too lightly.

We will post more information as it becomes available. Note: In doing so, there will be no "Advanced Training" on these nights, but we encourage those riders to take the class.
