Off Hours Track Sign-In (Scroll Down For Latest News)

The East Point Velodrome Association would like all of our members and visitors to start logging their off hours riding at the velodrome. We have a few goals with this from getting a better handle on our rider numbers to safety for riders who roll solo at the track.

Weather Protocol:

If an official sees lightning or rain there will be a whistle to close the track. Racers will safely slow down and come onto the apron and then the warm-up track.

We currently have a tree down near the entrance of the velodrome. The tree landed on the power poll across the road from the entrance. It is currently being removed we have back-up power for everything but the lights.

Currently the only way to enter the track is coming down the hill from the ball fields on Lexington.

The forcast calls for a 50% chance of a shower at 5:30 then clear the rest of the evening.

The track takes just under an hour to dry. We will make annuncements of the earliest the track could re-open. We will then have a 15 minute warm-up period.

Track Closed Friday April 8th

Track will be closed Friday April 8th to finish up repainting the surface. We will post later in the day whether the track will be open Saturday. Thanks for your patience as we took the time to have weekly programming this week and restart work.

Notes on New Track Surface

1. Yes, it looks awesome!
2. It's guaranteed to make you think the track is actually smoother.
3. There will be less downtime waiting for track to dry after rain.
4. Any moisture will make the track very slippery until it's dry (you shouldn't be riding on a wet track anyway....)
5. Pollen season is almost done, but annual slippery pollen warning extra important on new track surface.

Track is CLOSED until further notice!

The Track is CLOSED until further notice. We are washing and painting the track surface and the work will continue (weather permitting) until the work is completed. The workday on Saturday is still happening as we will be patching the track surface between washing and painting (and could use help doing so, please come out). This means there is no YCL, or other programming happening.
